Marcel Aarden

Marcel joined Celerity in February 2023, coming from a background in carpentry and joinery within the construction industry. He has since completed many courses from BCIT's Building and Technology program, and has had since been trained in permit coordination, on-site services, and code review and compliance drawings. He continues to be dedicated to enhancing his expertise in the realm of building fire and life safety. In his role of project coordination, his commitment to efficiency and problem-solving drives him to ensure projects completed on time and within budget.

During his spare time, Marcel pursues his passion for the outdoors, engaging in activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, or skiing. Regardless of the weather, he'll be getting after it.

Alisha Choy, EIT, B.Eng.

Alisha obtained her Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Victoria in 2017, and has taken many Building Code courses at BCIT to develop her strong knowledge of the code and it’s application. Since joining Celerity in 2018, Alisha has worked on a broad range of projects including health care, commercial, industrial and education. She is registered for the January 2024 CP course in Vancouver.

During her spare time, Alisha enjoys mountain biking, exploring local trails, and playing ice hockey.

Diane Crombie, B.A., B.Des. - Principal

Diane studied Industrial Design at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design after completing her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at the University of British Columbia. She has over 15 years of experience working in the engineering consulting and design discipline, and over 9 years completing designs for retail, office, restaurant and residential renovations. Her involvement in such projects has led her to become proficient in managing projects, with a focus on Certified Professional projects.

When Diane is not working, she enjoys making a nice meal, spending time with her children and winter breaks in Costa Rica.

Michael Ferber, Architect AIBC, C.P., LEED AP

Michael is a Registered Architect that has been consulting on Vancouver Island, the lower Mainland and throughout British Colombia since 2012.  He is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and has a Master in Architecture, obtained in 2007.  Michael is a Certified Professional (C.P.) registered with the City of Vancouver and Surrey.  He enjoys the technical aspects of buildings and structures that require a unique perspective in the application of the provisions of Fire and Life Safety that stem from the National, Provincial and International Building codes. 

He enjoys spending his after-work time either renovating his camper van, or taking it on adventures to perform one the previously mentioned activities - in both cases, kicking back after with a craft brew!

 

Brian Fraser, P.Eng., C.P. - Principal

Brian Fraser is registered as a P.Eng. in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. He obtained his B.Eng. from the University of Victoria in 2002 and has worked as a consulting engineer in the construction industry since 2005.

Brian completed the Certified Professional course in 2012. As a CP, Brian is recognized as an expert in the application of Part 3 and the administrative components of the British Columbia Building Code and Vancouver Building Bylaw. Brian is also adept in the application of the National Building Code of Canada and the Alberta Building Code.

He regularly completes training to keep current on the developments in fire protection and building code research.

Stefan Germann, P.Eng.

Stefan Germann is registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Stefan has been involved with Building Code Compliance and Life Safety since 2011, with a specialty in Fire Engineering. He completed his B.Eng at the University of Regina. He has worked on a variety of building projects in the health care, detention, commercial, industrial, education and the aviation sectors. Stefan has completed certificates regarding NFPA 101: Life Safety Code and NFPA 13: Standards for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, and is currently studying towards his M.Eng, at the University of Waterloo.

John T. Ivison, BSc (Hons) P Eng (ret.) CP FSFPE

John Ivison is contracted by Celerity Engineering to provide advice and review of complex fire protection engineering projects in BC. He has been a fire protection engineer for 40 years. He started his career in the insurance industry as a loss prevention specialist, and has since found his passion in heritage building upgrades, an area in which he advocates for a holistic approach, and strategic negotiation with the city to deliver an effective and cost efficient approach.

He also is called upon to assist on industrial facilities with special problems, product development, water supply review, and the design of fire suppression systems.

Carla Kelly

Carla joined Celerity in 2022 as our Contract Administrator.  She has 35+ years experience in administration, starting out in the legal field, and eventually moving into the world of building code and fire safety engineering. Her specialty is document control and proposal preparation, having a keen eye for details.    

In her downtime, Carla cherishes spending time with her family: whether it be quality time at home or exploring the west coast of North America in their camper-van. She also enjoys interior design, music, curating her various collections, and cheering on her hometown hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks!

 

Corie Lubben, EIT, B.Eng., RHFAC Professional

Corie works as an intermediate Building Code Consultant in our Victoria office. She has been working at Celerity in the fire protection and life safety field within the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island since 2016. Corie holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She was registered as a Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC) Professional in January, 2024.

When not in the office, Corie enjoys getting out of the city and with spending time with her husband and three children in fresh air.

Delaine MacDougall

Delaine brings a balance of experience that allows her to approach code challenges with both the design and technical aspects in mind. Before joining Celerity in 2019, she worked at the City of Regina Building Standards Branch, where she served as Acting Manager, and the Supervisor for Permit Processing. As a Class 3 Building Official, Delaine has great insight to the requirements of an Authority Having Jurisdiction, and an in depth understanding of the application of the National Building Code.

Delaine has also worked with several residential design firms, as an Architectural Technologist and Designer.

Brenda McCallum

As Celerity Engineering has grown, so has Brenda’s collection of ‘hats’. As our bookkeeper, office manager, human resources person, website administrator and general jack of all trades, she keeps things organized and gets things done! Brenda finds it very gratifying to keep everything running smoothly so that our principals and technical staff are able to focus on what they love to do.

In her spare time, she embraces the fun of adult recess at Origins Parkour in Vancouver.

Saleem Nuri, AScT

Saleem joined Celerity in February, 2022. He is an Applied Science Tecnologist, holding diplomas in Civil Engineering Technology, Building Engineer Technology (Building Science), and Construction Management. He is also a registered Building Official in BC.

He brings to Celerity 8 years of experience in the Plan Review departments of several Lower Mainland AHJs, as well as 2 years working on the other side of the approvals desk with contracting companies.

 

Marc Showers, P.Eng., CP

Marc is registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia, and a Certified Professional in the City of Vancouver. He has been with Celerity since 2015. He is involved in projects in all stages of the design and construction process, and enjoys sharing his knowledge of building codes and life safety principles, and developing alternative solution design where appropriate. Marc enjoys educating himself, other professionals and clients at every opportunity.

Outside of the office, Marc enjoys playing baseball/softball, golf and games with friends a family. He is also an avid mini-golfer and 9 time champion of the annual Cactus Jack Mini-Golf Extravaganza.

Vishvaa Subramanian, M.Eng.

Vishvaa joined Celerity in 2024, after completing his Masters degree in Civil Engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa, with a specialization in Fire Safety.

Adapting to changing priorities, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and delivering quality work on time are among his key strengths, as he begins his career in the BC building code environment.

Vishvaa loves playing cricket and badminton, as well as watching movies. Currently, he is playing club cricket in Vancouver.

Gianni Vulcano, P.Eng.

Gianni joined Celerity in September 2023, coming from a background specializing in industrial buildings. He brings experience in project management, industrial building design, design coordination and sprinkler design. He is taking the 2024 AIBC CP course. Gianni is passionate about applying engineering and design principles to fire protection and life safety, through the development of unique and complex Alternative Solutions.

 Outside of work Gianni enjoys a good adventure and has done many multi-day hiking and kayaking trips, including hiking through flash floods in the Northern Rockies, paddling with whales through Desolation Sound and trekking the Kumano Kodo trail across Japan’s Kii Peninsula. When he isn’t out exploring, he enjoys golfing, cooking and playing guitar/piano with friends.
